About Cobalt

Cobalt is the infrastructure layer that makes healthcare AI possible. Dozens of high-growth companies rely on us as core infrastructure. We’re the reason their products can connect to healthcare systems at all. When they need to move fast, we’re the team they call.

We’ve built this with a lean, elite team that punches way above its weight. No bloat, no layers, no passengers. Every person here has outsized impact, and we intend to keep it that way as we scale. If you want to do the best work of your career at a company that’s growing fast and building something that actually matters, keep reading.

About the role

Infrastructure companies don't usually win on design. We think that's a mistake. The best developer tools (Stripe, Vercel, Linear) prove that you can build for engineers and still care deeply about craft. We're a lean team, which means the person in this role will define how Cobalt looks and feels everywhere.

You'll own the intersection of design and engineering at Cobalt. You'll design and build interfaces, documentation experiences, marketing pages, and internal tools, and you'll ship all of it yourself. No handoffs, no Figma-to-JIRA pipelines. You design it, you build it, you ship it. If you've been looking for a role where craft matters and you own the full stack of the experience, this is it.

What you’ll do

  • Design and build product interfaces, landing pages, and documentation experiences
  • Own the visual identity and design system across Cobalt's web presence
  • Create interactive demos, animations, and experiences that make our product tangible
  • Ship production frontend code that matches the quality bar of the best developer tools
  • Collaborate with engineering on developer-facing UI (dashboards, API explorer, onboarding flows)

What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years at the intersection of design and frontend engineering
  • Strong portfolio showing work you both designed and built
  • You can go from concept to production without a handoff
  • AI-fluent. You use AI to accelerate your workflow, from ideation to implementation
  • An eye for detail that borders on obsessive: spacing, typography, motion, color

Nice to have

  • +Experience at a developer tools or infrastructure company
  • +You've built a design system from scratch and maintained it
  • +Motion design sensibility. You think about how things move, not just how they look
What we offer
Competitive salary + meaningful equity
Full health, dental, and vision coverage
Unlimited PTO (we actually use it)
Remote-first, work from anywhere
Latest tools and hardware
Annual team offsites
